The signing ceremony of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Development Bank on the grant of technical assistance to prepare a study on the preliminary institutional structure of the Islamic Organization for Food Security took place on Feb. 29, 2016 at the headquarters of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia, Permanent Representative to the OIC Bakyt Batyrshayev and President of the IDB Ahmad Mohamed Ali signed the document.

This event is one of the important activities aimed at the implementation of the initiative of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to develop a system of mutual food assistance and establish an Islamic organization in this area with its headquarters in Kazakhstan, announced at the 38th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, in June 2011 in Astana. 

At present, 24 OIC countries are members of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, the inaugural session of which will take place on April 28 in Astana.
