I. Loss of the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan

In accordance with Article 21 of the Law "On Citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan," a person who is a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan and has accepted the citizenship of a foreign state is obliged to report within thirty calendar days about the acquisition of a foreign citizenship and return the passport and (or) identification document of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Department of Internal Affairs or a foreign mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for registration of the loss of the citizenship.

To register the loss of the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, you must provide the following documents:

1. Application, indicating personal information (full name, date and place of birth, date of acceptance of a foreign citizenship);

2. Questionnaire;

3. Photo (1 pc.) size 4x5 cm;

4. Copy of the birth certificate;

5. If the last name, first name, or patronymic name have been changed, it is necessary to provide a notarized copy of the confirming document (Marriage Certificate, Certificate of name change, etc.);

6. Notarized copy of the passport or certificate of citizenship of Japan (or any other foreign citizenship);

7. Original of Kazakhstan national passport or USSR passport. (in case of loss / theft, it is necessary to provide translated into Russian / Kazakh language and notarized document from the Police Station confirming the loss / theft), original of the Kazakhstan Identity Card (for those who did not apply for a Permit to leave Kazakhstan for permanent residency abroad; in case of loss, it is necessary to provide a written explanation with signature) and military ID (if applicable; in case of loss, it is necessary to provide a written explanation with signature);

9. In case you need a Certificate of the loss of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is necessary to write the corresponding application with a request to issue this certificate, as well as to pay the consular fee in the form of a money order for 50 USD.

For underaged, a similar package of documents should be submitted separately.

II. Admission to the Citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan

For admission to the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, you must submit the following documents:

1. Cover letter for the admission to the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan addressed to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

2. Completed application form;

3. Autobiography in an arbitrary form;

4. Copy of the applicant's identity document;

5. Obligation to comply with the conditions of Art. 1 of the Law "On Citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan";

6. Photo, size 3.5 x 4.5 cm;

7. Legalized Certificate of the presence / absence of a criminal record, with a mandatory translation into Kazakh or Russian;

8. Document confirming permanent residence outside the Republic of Kazakhstan;

9. Legalized certificate of the absence or termination of the citizenship of another state, issued by the competent state authority, with the translation into Kazakh or Russian;

10. Copies of birth certificates of children and marriage certificate (if applicable);

11. In the event of the restoration of the citizenship, the application shall be accompanied by documents certifying the applicant's former citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

12. Consular fee in the form of a money order for the amount of 100 USD;

The above listed documents, copies of the passport and certificates must be submitted in 3 copies.

All documents will be submitted for consideration to the state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Application processing period is 6 months.

For underaged, a similar package of documents should be submitted separately.

III. Withdrawal from the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan

To apply for a withdrawal from the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, you must provide the following documents:

1. Application for withdrawal from the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan addressed to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

2. Questionnaire;

3. Autobiography in an arbitrary form;

4. Photo, size 3,5 х 4,5 cm;

5. Copy of the applicant's identity document;

6. Permit to leave Kazakhstan for permanent residency in Japan, issued by the Department of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

7. Certificate on the presence or absence of a criminal record, in the form approved by Order №95 of the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Kazakhstan of July 27, 2015, "On Approval of Public Service Standards" (registered in the Register of State Registration of Regulatory Documents №12055);

8. Copies of birth certificates of children and marriage certificate (if applicable);

9. Document confirming the possibility of obtaining a Japanese citizenship;

10. Notarized consent for withdrawal from the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the absence of material or other claims from the applicant's spouse or dependent persons residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan or copies of death certificates, the court's decision to recognize a citizen dead or missing;

11. Consular fee in the form of a money order for the amount of 150 USD;

The above listed documents, copies of the passport and certificates must be submitted in 3 copies.

All documents will be submitted for consideration to the state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Application processing period is 6 months.

For underaged, a similar package of documents should be submitted separately.

In accordance with Article 629 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the paid amounts of consular fees are not refundable.
