On 11 November 2019, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Georgia, Baurzhan Mukhamejanov, met with the Prime Minister of Georgia, George Gakharia. During the meeting, topical issues and prospects of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
The Head of the Georgian Government highly appreciated the friendly and trustworthy relations that have historically developed between the two countries. In his talk about the priorities of the new government, which are to create new jobs, attract foreign investments, and implement reforms in the sphere of education, G. Gakharia assured of the support of the government of Kazakhstani investors working in Georgia.
Special attention was paid to the joint work on the implementation of transit and logistics projects as a perspective direction of bilateral cooperation. As a key area the parties discussed issues relating to the activities of the Batumi Sea Port and the Kazakhstani company "Rompetrol", which has been successfully operating in the Georgian market for almost 15 years. The Kazakh diplomat noted that the current volume of mutual trade does not correspond to the potential of the economies of our countries. In this regard, Ambassador B. Mukhamejanov stressed the growth of ridership between the two countries and the volume of Georgian wine supplied to Kazakhstan. The parties considered the implementation of the Roadmap signed in May this year, aimed at enhancing bilateral economic cooperation. In addition, with the assistance of the Kazakh Embassy was established Kazakhstan-Georgian Business Association, designed to promote the activity of investors in the markets of the two countries.
As the Ambassador of Kazakhstan noted, the development of cooperation in the field of education is of great importance. To these purposes, the delegations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, as well as Nazarbayev University, visited Georgia and established direct contacts with the leading universities of Georgia.
The meeting was held in a warm business atmosphere. The sides agreed to maintain close contacts in order to enhance the bilateral cooperation.
