On November 14, 2019 in Almaty, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, spoke at the opening of a meeting of observer states, plenipotentiaries of member states of the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors (CARICC) and its partners.
In his speech, the Kazakh diplomat noted the role of CARICC as an important mechanism for cooperation over the production, consumption and fight against drug trafficking.
As part of the visit to Almaty, Mr. Ashikbayev met with the President of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), Kim Jong Yang. The Kazakh side highlighted its interest in further enhancing cooperation with Interpol in the fight against international crime, including through strengthening the partnership between CARICC and Interpol.
