The Ambassador of Kazakhstan met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia

On March 19, 2019 Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Daniyar Sarekenov has met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato' Sri Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Bin Yaakob.

During the conversation, diplomats have discussed the current state and prospects of the bilateral cooperation. Kazakhstan diplomat noted that Astana attaches great importance to the promotion of bilateral relations with Kuala Lumpur to the level of “comprehensive partnership”, according to the agreement reached during the visit of Prime Minister N. Razak to Astana in 2014.

D.Sarekenov introduced M.Shahrul with the priorities in internal and foreign policy of Kazakhstan, the new tasks of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attract foreign investment, promote exports and strengthen economic diplomacy.

The Secretary General noted that over the 27 years of the establishing the diplomatic relations strong and reliable cooperation has been set between Astana and Kuala Lumpur. Dato Sri' emphasized the progressive dynamic in the development of bilateral cooperation in trade and economic, education, law enforcement and other areas.

The sides expressed the satisfaction by the growth of mutual trade, which, according to the statistics, in 2018 have increased almost four times compared with the previous year and for the first time amounted about 500 USD.

D.Sarekenov expressed the interest of Kazakhstan in the further deepening of the bilateral cooperation and maintaining the regular political contacts at the highest and higher levels.

The diplomats also discussed topical issues on international agenda, prospects for cooperation in international and regional organizations, including United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
