Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan E.Dosayev had a meeting with the Secretary-General of UNCTAD

On May 17, 2018 on the sidelines of the Astana Economic Forum a bilateral meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan E.Dossaev with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) M.Kitui took place. The main topics of discussion were the successful completion of the joint project of the Ministry of Finance of the RK and UNCTAD on the implementation of the ASTANA-1 customs system, as well as further bilateral cooperation within the framework of the "Single window for export-import operations" project on the territory of Kazakhstan.

The parties highly appreciated the result of the implementation of the ASTANA-1 project, all modules of which were put into operation on April 1, 2018. The introduction of this system provided easy electronic access to companies engaged in foreign economic activity to customs information, allowing to optimize and simplify the existing procedures for transit, export and import and switch to a paperless way of customs clearance.

The ASTANA-1 information system is based on the unique technological platform ASYCUDA, which was developed and improved by UNCTAD over the past 30 years.

The implementation of ASTANA-1 will allow Kazakhstan to comply with the requirements of the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation.

Concluding the meeting, the Parties expressed their confidence in the continuation of successful cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNCTAD within the framework of the project "Single Window for Export-Import Operations", which is scheduled for completion on January 1, 2019.

The Single Window project involves integration of information from all state regulatory authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan on licensing documents into a single electronic system based on ASTANA-1, which will facilitate easier issuance of permits for export-import transactions.
