Chairman of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology took part at the 107th meeting of the Council of ISO in Geneva

On 24 September 2018, the Chairman of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology Arman Shakkaliyev took part at the 107th meeting of the Council of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in Geneva.

In September 2017, Kazakhstan was elected for the membership to the ISO Council for 2018-2020. The ISO Council is the executive body of ISO, which takes decisions on the administrative, political financial and strategic issues of the Organization. The Council consists of 20 member-countries.

Report on the ISO activities and implementation of decision of previous meetings of the Council as well as implementation of the ISO Strategy 2016-2020, the draft online training platform and other key strategic and financial issues were reviewed at the meeting. The online ISO platform will be created by the end of 2019.

In turn, Kazakhstan proposed an initiative on establishment of a regional ISO office for the Central Asia. In addition, the issue of using a single platform for online learning has been initiated, which would enable to learn best practices of foreign countries in the evelopment and implementation of new technologies in the field of standardization.

The Council adopted a number of decisions on the future work of the Organization, as well as instructed the Central Secretariat to explore the possibility of creating regional ISO offices, including Central Asia, within the framework of the ISO 2016-2020 Strategy.
