Nazarbayev nominated Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev as a candidate from "Nur-Otan" party for election of RK President

The first President of Kazakhstan - Elbasy, chairman of the Nur Otan party, Nursultan Nazarbayev, nominated Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev to participate in the election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan from the Nur-Otan party. This became known during the extraordinary XIX congress of the "Nur-Otan" party in Nur-Sultan, Kazpravda.kz reports.

"Dear members of the party! I urge all compatriots to support his candidacy", said the Chairman of Nur Otan party Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev was born on May 17, 1953 in Almaty. In 1975 he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and entered the service in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. He was sent to work at the embassy in the Republic of Singapore.

From 1979 to 1983, he worked as a Senior Assistant, Attache, and Third Secretary of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 1983 to 1984 - intern at the Beijing Institute of the Chinese language.

From 1984 to 1985 - Third Secretary of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 1985 to 1991 - the second, and then the first secretary of the USSR Embassy in the PRC.

From 1993 to 1994 - he was the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 1994 to 1999 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 1999 he was the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 1999 to 2002 – the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2002 to 2003 - Secretary of State - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2003 to 2007 - he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2007-2011 - deputy, chairman of the Senate of the RK Parliament of the third convocation.

From 2011 to 2013 - Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Head of the European Office of the United Nations in Geneva.

October 16, 2013 he was elected Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Member of the people's democratic party "Nur Otan" since June 2007.

Member of the Political Council Bureau of the "Nur Otan" party since July 2007.

Recall, March 19, Nursultan Nazarbayev announced the termination of his powers of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev was appointed the acting President of Kazakhstan. March 20, after taking the oath, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev took office as the President of Kazakhstan.

On April 9, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev announced the holding of extraordinary elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on June 9, 2019.

On 12 April, the CEC approved the requirements for candidates for the Presidency of Kazakhstan.

Later it became known that the Government will allocate 9.4 billion tenge from the reserve for holding extraordinary presidential elections.

The decision to hold early elections was commented by experts.
