Kazakhstan and UNCTAD have successfully completed a joint project

On April 1, 2018 the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance jointly with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) successfully completed the implementation of the ASTANA-1 automated customs declaration system.

This project was implemented with the assistance of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Geneva and initiated in December 2015 in pursuance of the requirements of the Nation's Plan "100 concrete steps to implement the five institutional reforms of the Head of State N. Nazarbayev".

The introduction of this system provided easy electronic access to the companies engaged in foreign economic activity, to customs information, allowing to optimize and simplify the existing procedures for transit, export and import and switch to a paperless method of customs clearance of goods.

ASTANA-1 is based on the unique technological platform ASYCUDA, which UNCTAD has developed and improved over 30 years. It is widely known for its practical application for the modernization of customs administration in more than 90 countries.

ASTANA-1 has wide characteristics and includes all the necessary functions and business processes necessary for the formation of a full-fledged e-government.

Also, ASTANA-1 will allow Kazakhstan to comply with the requirements of the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation and the Dublin resolution of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

At present, Kazakhstan continues to cooperate with UNCTAD in the implementation of another major project "Single Window for Export-Import Operations in Kazakhstan".
