Kazakhstan and Thailand to Expedite Consideration of Introducing Mutual Visa-free Travel Regime
On 21 June First Deputy Foreign Minister Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi held negotiations with Deputy Foreign Minister of Thailand Virasakdi Futrakul who had come to Astana co-chair the third session of the joint commission on bilateral cooperation between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Thailand. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation and prospects of Kazakh-Thai cooperation in political, economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields.
The Kazakh side proposed to introduce a visa-free travel regime for all Kazakhstan and Thailand citizens. Deputy Foreign Ministers of the two countries agreed on the necessity to expedite the process of consideration of the relevant agreement between the Governments.
Following the meeting, the parties signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand on the exemption of owners of diplomatic and service/official passports from visa requirements.
