The Cooperation Plan signed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) in the field of population protection from emergency situations for 2017-2020 was officially handed over on July 12, 2017 during the meeting between Ambassador Zhanar Aitzhanova, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Mr. Vladimir Kuvshinov, Secretary General of the ICDO.
Realization of the Plan will develop additional opportunities to strengthen international cooperation in the field of emergency and fight against natural disasters. Moreover, with the support of the ICDO the rescuers of Kazakhstan will have an opportunity to participate in practical courses and trainings organized in different countries, as well as exchange experience with the representatives of other countries.
The ICDO is the only intergovernmental organization that specializes in the field of civil defense and protection at the international level. It consists of 55 states as full members, 19 states have the status of observers as well as 30 organizations are affiliated members of it.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is a member of the ICDO Executive Council that performs the functions of general management of the Organization.
