On December 12, 2017, celebratory reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of Kazakhstan was held in Zagreb. The event was attended by representatives of the Administration of the President, Government, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, social-political, cultural and business circles, scientists, diplomatic corps, the Kazakh community and media of Croatia.
Opening the event, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Croatia Tolezhan Barlybayev noted that under the leadership of President Nursultan Nazarbayev Kazakhstan made an impressive breakthrough in state building, creation of a diversified market economy and a unique social model of peace, stability and interethnic accord.
It was stressed that the strategic course of the Leader of the Nation and the outstanding achievements of Kazakhstan, such as the closure of the Semipalatinsk test site and voluntary renunciation of nuclear weaponry, ensured the growth of Kazakhstan's international authority, its significant contribution to the strengthening of peace and stability on the planet. This was confirmed by the election of Kazakhstan as the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2017-2018, holding international meetings on Syria within the framework of the Astana process and other important events.
It was noted that the implementation of programs of forced industrial, innovative and infrastructural development ensured the diversification of the Kazakh economy. The five institutional reforms initiated by the Head of State and "100 Concrete Steps" Plan of the Nation along with "Ruhani zhanghyru" program form a new institutional basis for sustainable development of Kazakhstan for the long term. The successful hosting of EXPO2017, establishment of "Astana" IFC, Asian Bank for Infrastructural Investments and other organizations will enable Kazakhstan to gain a new role in the global economy, to use global institutions to enhance the country's competitiveness.a
The diplomat congratulated the participants and guests of the reception on the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic bilateral relations. In this regard, Croatian citizens and Kazakh compatriots, who made a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations, received special awards.
Within the framework of the celebration, the Embassy of Kazakhstan with the assistance of the head of "Saule" Zagreb Ballet School, the prima ballet dancer of the Croatian People's Theater Saule Ashimova, prepared a concert. The Croatian audience greeted Kazakh songs performed by the opera diva of the National Theater Adela Golac Rilovic, as well as folk dances performed by the ballet dancer of the National Theater Ani Gorisic, with a storm of applause.
