The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ukraine and the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Western Ukraine conducted the project "Kobzar in the steppes of Kazakhstan", which narrates the life and work of Taras Shevchenko during his exile in Kazakhstan.
Within the framework of this project, the well-known Ukrainian director and publicist Yevhen Kozak has published a book and shot a documentary that has already received the Grand Prix at the Kaniv International Film Festival 2017.
The solemn ceremony of the presentation of the project was held by the Embassy on November 1, 2017 at the Institute of International Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The event was attended by prominent Ukrainian scholars, heads of diplomatic missions, heads of state authorities of Ukraine, well-known "Shevchenko researchers", representatives of the Kazakh diaspora, mass media and students.
Welcoming the participants of the event, the head of Kazakhstan's diplomatic mission Samat Ordabayev noted T. Shevchenko's special role in the Kazakh-Ukrainian relations and his influence on the development of fraternal ties between the Kazakh and Ukrainian peoples. The Ambassador emphasized that, due to Kobzar's paintings, many generations of Ukrainians are acquainted with the way of life, traditions and culture of the Kazakh people, the picturesque nature of Kazakhstan. The spirit of Kobzar's lyrical works is similar to the works of Abay Kunanbayev and Shakarim Kudayberdiyev and other prominent Kazakh poets and educators.
The rector of the Kyiv National University, Hero of Ukraine Leonid Huberskyi noted that Taras Shevchenko became one of the main pillars of cultural and humanitarian relations between the two peoples, and his multifaceted creativity became a common cultural heritage.
President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, academician Vasyl Kremen highly appreciated the project "Kobzar in the steppes of Kazakhstan", which will become a visual guide for the younger generation on how to value and strengthen the friendship of peoples. He especially emphasized the role of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in the development of the Kazakh-Ukrainian relations as a whole and a careful approach to preserving the memory and respect for Kobzar in Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh-Ukrainian project on the life of Taras Shevchenko in Kazakhstan, which will be a good tool for studying his legacy, was highly appreciated by other participants of the presentation.
