Kazakhstan - Albania

General Information

September 21, 1993 diplomatic relationships between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Albania were established.

Since 2015, А.Gazioni is a non-resident Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Albania (with a residence in Moscow).

Since 2017, A.Saparbekulyis a non-resident Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Albania (with a residence in Ankara).

Political Relationships: Dynamics of Bilateral Visits

Albania is one of the forward-looking political partners of Kazakhstan in the Balkan region. Our states do not have any political or other disagreements and that creates favorable preconditions for more active bilateral cooperation in various fields.

On March 15,2010 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs K. Zhigalov visited Albania as an Envoy of OSCE Chairman-in-Office.

On July16-17, 2010 Secretary of State - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Saudabayev met with Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania I.Meta within the framework of the informal OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers in Almaty.

On June 28-30, 2011 Albanian delegation headed by Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania S. Belortaja participated at the 38th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.

From May 21 to 23, 2014 Vice Prime Minister of Albania N. Peleshiparticipated in the VII Astana Economic Forum.

From May 23 to 25, 2014 the first official visit of Prime Minister of Albania A. Rama visited Kazakhstan. He had a meeting with President N. Nazarbayev and Prime Minister K. Masimov. The parties discussed issues on further strengthening trade and economic ties.

On June 24-25, 2014 the visit of the Kazakh delegation headed by the Minister of Environment and Water Resources N. Kapparovvisited Albania.

Trade and economic cooperation

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Albania for January-October 2017 amounted to2,623 million US dollars (export – 2,140million US dollars, import – 483,7thousand US dollars).

Bilateral trade turnover mainly consists of the export of Kazakh hydrocarbon.
