Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Chile

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Chile were established on August 19, 1993.

Concurrent Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Chile (with residence in Brasilia) is Kairat Sarzhanov (since 2016).

Concurrent Ambassador of Chile to Kazakhstan (with residence in Moscow) is Jose Nieto Maturan (since 2017).

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov visited Santiago on September 30, 2013. Negotiations at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Chile were organized in Kazakhstan on September 29, 2016 and in Chile on May 3, 2017, where Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev led the first round of Kazakhstan-Chilean Inter-Ministerial Consultations.

Development of cooperation was facilitated by the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2017, where Chile was represented in the Latin American Pavilion. Deputy Minister of Energy of Chile Jimena Jara visited Kazakhstan during the EXPO.

The legal framework of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Chile includes documents in the area of political consultations, on visa matters and others.

In 2018 bilateral trade reached 8.3 million US dollars including 46.4 thousand in export and 8.2 million in import.
