TEHRAN, February 2, 2019 - The Palace of the President of Iran hosted a solemn ceremony for the presentation of credentials by the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Askhat Orazbai, to President Hassan Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
At the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and issues of mutually beneficial cooperation and interaction between Kazakhstan and Iran in the bilateral and multilateral formats.
Ambassador Orazbai briefed the President of Iran on the important measures taken at the initiative of President Nursultan Nazarbayev, aimed at the political and economic development of Kazakhstan, improving the welfare of the people, as well as strengthening stability in the world. At the same time, he shared views on the further expansion of trade, economic, investment and cultural ties between the two countries.
President Rouhani said that Iran was among the first states to recognize the independence of Kazakhstan, and since then the countries have been developing friendly bilateral cooperation. He drew attention to the fact that his close contacts with President Nazarbayev helped to address positively the bilateral and regional agenda.
The Iranian President stressed that Kazakhstan's foreign policy initiatives made a significant contribution to maintaining regional and international security, including the situation around the Iranian nuclear program, as well as the effective negotiations held in Kazakhstan to resolve the conflict in Syria.
President Rouhani noted the high potential of bilateral cooperation, taking into account the possibility of establishing ties between Kazakhstan and Iran directly through the Caspian Sea, as well as the rail and road routes through Turkmenistan. He stressed that the intensification of cooperation in the transit-transport and agricultural areas would be useful for both republics.

President Rouhani sent Nursultan Nazarbayev warm words of welcome and said that he expected the President of Kazakhstan to visit Iran.
