Pattaya (Thailand) took place the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD)

On 19-21 May 2014 in Pattaya (Thailand) took place the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) which was convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Royal Thai Government. The Forum was held under the Chairmanship of Kazakhstan and co-chaired by Thailand. Kazakhstan delegation headed by H.E. Mr. Bektas Mukhamejanov, Vice Minister of Environment and Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The purpose of APFSD was to identify regional and sub-regional priorities in Asia Pacific in the context of sustainable development goals, Rio+20’s outcome and the Post-2015 Development Agenda. Chair’s Summary will be submitted to the annual Ministerial session of ECOSOC and to the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF).
During the meeting of H.E. Mr. Bektas Mukhamejanov with United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCAP Dr. Akhtar was discussed issues on implementation “Green Bridge” Partnership Program, creation of the Institute of ESCAP on the study of climate change / renewable energy in Kazakhstan and participation of the Commission at the EXPO - 2017.
Following the meeting parties agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between Ministry of Environment and Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and ESCAP.
