​Foreign Ministry discusses prospects for Kazakh-Belarusian cooperation

NUR-SULTAN, June 7, 2019 - Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov recently received the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Kazakhstan Anatoly Nichkasov.

The sides had a comprehensive meeting on topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian affairs.

Special attention was paid to the program of recent and upcoming bilateral events, including the visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Kazakhstan.

Given the role of economic diplomacy in the work of the two countries' foreign ministries, the sides exchanged the experiences of their foreign ministries and foreign missions in promoting exports. Kazakhstan is among the top three major trading partners of Belarus within the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In 2018, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Belarus reached $680.7 million, increasing by 7.6% compared to 2017. Exports amounted to $87.5 million and imports to $593.2 million.
