1995 – diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Macedonia were established.
Since November 2013 – Nurbakh Rustemov is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Macedonia with concurrent accreditation.
Since November 2014 – Ilia Psaltirov is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Macedonia to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
December 1-2, 2010 President of Macedonia George Ivanov participated in the OSCE Summit in Astana.
July 1-3, 2012 President of Macedonia George Ivanov paid a state visit to Astana.
May 22-24, 2013 the Macedonian delegation headed by the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski took part in the 6th Astana Economic Forum and World Anti-Crisis Conference.
August 28, 2014 President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met with President of Macedonia George Ivanov in Ankara.
Trade and economic cooperation
In 2014 bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Macedonia amounted to $3.2 million.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation
The Government of Macedonia to strengthen the Kazakh-Macedonian relations and the development of tourism has taken the decision to extend visa-free regime for citizens of Kazakhstan going to Macedonia to March 15, 2016. Visa-free regime entered on March 15, 2012 applies to all short-term travel of Kazakhstani citizens to Macedonia for up to three months once in six months.
