Kazakhstan and Mauritius intend to expand ties


On July 11, 2014 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrisov spoke on the phone with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mauritius Arvin Boolel during which the sides discussed the prospects of establishment and development of bilateral diplomatic relations.

Arvin Boolel who initiated the conversation said that Kazakhstan is known in Africa first of all for its non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and disarmament position. He said that Mauritius is interested in the development of relations with Kazakhstan and in this connection the Ambassador of Mauritius to Russia was appointed to present his country in Kazakhstan as well. He also informed that an appointment of honorable consul could considerably advance bilateral dialogue.

In his turn, E. Idrisov noted that Kazakhstan was interested in expansion of political and economic ties with African countries. He informed about the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan functioning in Pretoria since last year which would present Kazakhstan in Mauritius as well. The Minister made a suggestion about the signing a Communiqué on establishing diplomatic relations to formally establish bilateral relations between the two countries.
