Experts and scientists from Kazakhstan visited the IAEA laboratories

At the initiative of the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the International Organizations in Vienna on February 5-6, 2018, specialists and scientists of the Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the laboratory of the National Reference Center for Veterinary Medicine of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision, Division of Laboratory Service of the Committee for Public Health Protection of the Ministry of Health visited the Republic of Austria in order to study the activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) laboratories in Seibersdorf for the use of nuclear technology in agriculture, health and other spheres.

Kazakhstani experts discussed with the IAEA representatives new potential areas of cooperation with the Agency, which in its work pays much attention to activities aimed at using nuclear technologies to improve living standards, improve people's health and sustainable development of states.

As a result of the visit, it has been agreed to enhance cooperate with the Agency, including Kazakhstan scientists' internship programmes in the IAEA laboratories, to establish direct contacts between the institutions, as well as to outline directions for future cooperation.

For Kazakhstan, the IAEA's advanced technologies for sterilizing insect pests, the development and production of vaccines against infectious diseases, as well as the detection of indicators of transboundary animal diseases are of interest.

Visit by the Kazakh experts to the IAEA laboratories and agreements reached are one of the measures to implement the task of developing the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was outlined in the Nation Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev on January 10, 2018.
