TASHKENT, 15 November 2019 – Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed preparations for the upcoming second Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States in Tashkent. The foreign ministers considered the agenda, draft joint statement and regulations of the forthcoming consultative meetings of the heads of Central Asian states. Moreover, they discussed the state and prospects of further strengthening regional cooperation.
The Working (consultative) Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States held at the initiative of the First President of Kazakhstan, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, on March 15, 2018 in Nur-Sultan was an important overall achievement of Central Asia. This is the first such meeting in many years, during which the regional leaders defined the basic priorities of the five-sided cooperation and outlined future plans.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi pointed out in his remarks that the development of comprehensive cooperation with Central Asian countries and strengthening the importance of the region were among the key priorities of Kazakhstan's foreign policy.
The participants thanked the Uzbek side for a high-quality organization of the event and its efforts focused on the further development of regional integration.
